We want to create an unstable and surreal feeling exhibition with uneven surfaces and projections. Different levels will be a key feature in our exhibition design with 8 (estimated) LED screens and a number of touch sensors. A sound work of 7 speakers and 1 sub-woofer will be used to create a force of vibrations throughout the exhibition and intense sound. This set will be on a 3 minute loop to allow people to fully get involved in the experience. The audience will be able to create cracks and crevices themselves by stepping on the touch sensitive floor, walls and screens.
Draft of Exhibition Proposal:
“EXPERIENCE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN EARTHS TECTONIC PLATES COLLIDE TOGETHER TO CREATE A WAVE OF INTENSE SOUND AND VIBRATION. YOU CONTROL THE DESTRUCTION OF THE EARTHS SURFACE WITH CRACKS AND CREVICES FORMING WITH EVERY STEP YOU TAKE. ALLOW YOURSELF TO GET LOST IN THE IMMERSIVE ATMOSPHERE WITH UNSTABLE SURFACES AND SURREAL PROJECTIONS.”
Below are some pictures of inspiration for our exhibition set up:
Presentation with Stu:
earthquakes – lightning, lights in sky – energy
space performs as a feeling of unstably
think about setting up the idea that audience is going into unstable space – flooring? expose audience to instability – low frequency sound played through loud speakers – surround sound? – create rumbling feeling, feeling of uncertainty, suspense
(surrounds the entrance)
youtube – cinematic bass rumble pulses (soundeffectsfactory)
think about materials, COME UP WITH SPATIAL CONCEPT
- look at repeating angles, jigsaw-y
- think about having a cell structure which behaves as a container – walk across this, responses above and below.
- be aware of chandelier
- vibrations cause the chandelier to shake (but not brake)
think about the architecture – creating it through light and sound
we want your exhibit to take on different forms as time progresses.
The strong an unique colour palette and beautifully detailed typography in this exhibition signage was designed by RAW COLOR, a company which works with textiles, graphic design and photography. This signage was created for the “Eating by Design” exhibition which explored all avenues of food design. Raw Color was inspired by commercial signage and supermarket shelving. Raw color used an 11 shade palette and sublime CNC milled plywood typography.
Raw Color uses a popsicle stick process to find the perfect hue range..
